    The new research facility is a SVA-GRIHA 5-star rated building, located at TERI’s Gwal Pahari campus in Gurugram. It incorporates the various sustainability principles and design strategies espoused by the CoE.

Who WE ARE

The Mahindra TERI Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Sustainable Habitats is a joint research initiative of Mahindra Lifespaces and TERI. It will focus on developing science-based solutions for India’s future built environment, with a view to reducing the energy footprint of the real estate industry. The CoE will focus on providing a coherent & robust database for market ready, scalable and viable materials and technologies that are energy efficient.

Research

The use of state-of-the art research techniques, tools and performance measurement solutions will help generate performance data and metrics that can provide scale to the implementation of energy-efficient building stock in India which today stands at less than 5%. It will also work towards preparing policy briefs for Central and State Ministries to promote ‘green’ development that can transform India’s housing industry & resultantly the energy footprint. Research outputs will be validated on the field prior to dissemination of the databases, guidelines and standards to the real estate and building materials industry.
